Waxing is the most common method of hair removal. Warm wax is applied to the area and then removed, bringing the hair with it. Here at Solid Esthetics, we use hard wax for all of our services. Waxing reduces hair growth when performed at regular 30-day intervals. Because waxing pulls the hair out by the root, it grows back softer, finer, and thinner. The more you wax, the less hair grows back.
We recommend exfoliating the area several days prior to your appointment. Thoroughly clean the area and make sure to avoid greasy and heavy lotions or oils. It is also important to hydrate while avoiding too much caffeine. Hair MUST be grown out at least 2-3 weeks prior to being waxed.
If you are under the age of 18, please bring a parent or legal guardian for we will need their consent.
Women & Men of all shapes and sizes are welcome to get waxed!
Of course. Make sure to put in a fresh tampon or menstrual cup before arriving to your appointment. That time of the month can make your skin a bit more sensitive during a wax.
Absolutely! Keep in mind that while pregnant, your skin can be ultra sensitive. The pain level could potentially be higher than normal. However, getting waxed while pregnant can be extremely helpful. The further you are along, the harder it is to reach! And don't worry about laying flat, we can wax you sitting up.
Waxing can sometimes cause tenderness and swelling. In addition, some medications will cause the skin to react poorly to waxing. Do NOT wax if you’re taking Retin-A, Accutane, or any type of acne prescription. Please inform your esthetician if you start any new medications.
It is extremely important to care for the waxed area properly after treatment to prevent ingrown hairs, breakouts, or other reactions. Exfoliating your skin in between your waxes will help keep the skin clear. Avoid using comedogenic (clogging) products because it leaves a film on the body that could cause ingrown hairs. For the face, back, and chest, use a more gentle exfoliant and a bacteria preventative serum or lotion (ask your esthetician about recommended products). Directly after waxing, avoid direct sunlight and tanning booths, especially while the skin is still red from treatment. For 24 hours after waxing, avoid exercise, hot tubs, and products with harsh chemicals, perfumes, or dyes.
A facial is a professional cleansing, purifying, and beautifying treatment of the skin on the face and neck. Facials are the number one treatment performed by estheticians, and a good way for your therapist to get a good understanding of your skin prior to suggesting more extensive treatments.
A chemical peel is an acid solution that is applied to the skin. It dissolves the outermost layer of skin cells, which then continues being active the following days to reveal the fresher, younger layer below. Peels are very effective in treating a large range of skin concerns such as aging, sun damage, acne, mild scarring, improving skin brightness, and evening skin tone.
Immediately after the peel, your skin will feel tight and may be red. Use of gentle cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen is important, as it will enhance the healing process and results. Normal activity may be resumed after the peel, however strenuous exercise and heavy sweating should be avoided for 2-3 days. Sun exposure should be avoided immediately after treatment. Exposure of treated skin to a lot of heat should also be avoided as it may induce swelling, redness and for deeper peels blisters under the skin. Use of prescription topicals should be avoided for 3-5 days post peel.
Due to high volume, we require 24 hour notice to cancel or reschedule your appointment. If you cancel or reschedule within 24 hours of your appointment time, 50% of the services scheduled will be charged to the card on file. NO EXCEPTIONS. This cancellation policy also applies to no-show appointments.
